Atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS)

Flame-AAS can be applied to determine selected major and minor metals and metalloids in aqueous solutions.

Equipment

Sample preparation

Equipment

Flame-AAS5-Spectrometer (Analytik Jena, Jena, Germany) with Deuterium background correction and autosampler. For the following elements either hollow cathode lamps or electrodeless discharge lamps are available: Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, Sb, Si, Sr, Zn.

Sample preparation

Liquid samples (a volume of at least 10 mL is required, (if less volume is available please contact Dirk Merten in advance) must be free of particles (filtration < 0.45μm or suitable centrifugation).

Samples must delivered with a list of electrical conductivities. If samples originate from extractions or the digestion of solid samples the used weight of the solid samples and the volume, concentration and kind of extracting solutions have to be delivered.
